Renault Twizzy – an electric four-wheeler for young people

Twizzy

If you are one of the many parents who, when your child is growing up, have already faced endless nagging to buy them a scooter, then carefully read the following lines. In the spring, Renault will offer a four-wheeled twizziy for seven thousand, which will eliminate most of the safety concerns and inconveniences.

Most parents react with a great deal of concern when their children ask for a scooter, saying that it is safe at all and wondering: "what if a car hits him/her". A four-wheeler with an open cabin is a safer alternative for young people who want to be mobile around town, and their parents want as much safety as possible for them.

In front of the driver is a real steering wheel and everything else, and in the central part there is also a safety cushion, which raises the protection of passengers to a completely different level compared to scooters.

Well, at Renault, they have a very ecological solution to all such problems, as they offer an electric four-wheeled vehicle that offers two seats and two performance versions, with one charge but can drive 100 km. The Twizy has a very unique look, it has a steering wheel and everything else like a passenger vehicle and most importantly a passenger cabin and airbag. With this, safety when driving in traffic is significantly better than in the case of scooters, and the driver does not need a helmet, and at the same time, due to the open sides, he still has enough wind in his hair.

The front part of the vehicle is sufficiently "car-like", but still very unique. The development and production of the electric motor is handled by Šempetrska Letrika.

It also enables many personalization options in the form of interesting sports stickers on the entire body of the vehicle, which, like the development of the vehicle, were taken care of by Renault's sports division - Renault Sports.

The cabin is as windy as in a smaller convertible, and the seat design, where two extremely thin seats are placed one behind the other, is also special. So your young man can also take his best friend with him on the trip just like with a scooter, and there are also two performance versions where the basic can speeds of up to 45 km/h, and the more powerful 80 km/h.

Twizzy 45 thus enabling driving no driving test (B category), as it has power limited to 4 kW (5 hp), and in a more powerful version, an electric motor can do it, which is the result of Slovenian development and production 13 kW (17 hp). It can travel from 50 to 100 kilometers on a single charge, depending on weather conditions and driving style. There is also a cargo version, where the space behind the driver's seat is converted into a cargo space and is perfect for some delivery services and the like.

Prices will (will) start at seven thousand euros, as much as the twizy 45 costs, for a more powerful version you need to add more 800 euros. In addition, the owner then has to add more every month 50 euros for battery rental, where, as with the ZOE, Renault service technicians take care of its operation and, if necessary, its replacement.

The Twizy thus represents an interesting alternative to similar four-wheeled vehicles with a cabin, compared to which it is otherwise comparable in price (or even a little cheaper), but the price for renting the batteries must also be added to this. Shortcomings but they are precisely in the open sides, as the ride is largely conditioned by the weather conditions, so twizy it is not a year-round utility vehicle, but problems can arise even with a slightly more concrete downpour, so a waterproof jacket is mandatory equipment in a twizyu.
