Today at midnight CET, the 2016 Summer Olympics begin in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the 28th time in a row. You can watch the opening ceremony live on TV Slovenija 2 or online on MMC TV. Rio 2016 is the first Olympic Games in South America, and there will also be a strong Slovenian expedition. Find out below when we expect the first Slovenian performances.
The wait is over Rio 2016 is here! Today at 20:00 or at 1:00 a.m. our time are starting with the opening ceremony at the Maracana Stadium 28th Summer Olympic Games. She will also perform at them 62-member Slovenian national team, which will be the seventh appearance for Slovenia at the Summer Olympics. So far, she has come back just fine with each one with at least two medals, and all four holders of honors from London 2012 will not participate in the games this time, where otherwise as many 10,500 athletes from 206 countries.
The Dutch company Gracenote (formerly Infostrada), which deals with sports statistics, recently announced to Slovenia three gold medals (canoeist Benjamin Savšek, canoeist duo Saša Taljat and Luka Božič, and judoka Tina Trstenjak should be awarded gold) and one silver (this should be hung around the neck of kayaker Peter Kauzer).
The organizer will distribute at POI Rio 2016 306 sets of medals, namely 136 in women's, 161 in men's and nine in mixed competition. The first competitions have already started (soccer tournament), and the official opening will take place tonight, namely at 1:00 a.m. Slovenian time. The live broadcast will be on TV Slovenija 2 (00.50), where you will also be able to follow all other sporting events from venues in Rio and the surrounding area.
