This is a game about a murderer, a mass murderer. Its creation was prompted by a story from real life (actually from newspaper news). Because of its association with real events and people, and because of the impression of an ambivalent attitude towards these people, the play aroused violent indignation and opposition at the time it appeared in public. It was banned in France and was staged for the first time in Berlin (in 1990 under the direction of the famous Peter Stein), but then it immediately became famous as one of the strongest works of European drama of the last decades of the last century. With some distance, it became apparent that the author's ambivalent attitude towards real events and people carries a violent drama of confronting fundamental human questions. Between firearms and peering into inner universes, immeasurable spaces open up, in which, together with Koltès' characters, we must once again question the limits of human power and nothingness. Here, everything is put in a new light: family ties and love, erotica and consumerism, existential questions and the urban environment, old age and death, the police and individual morality...
