Roland Gumpert Nathalie: supercar on methanol

Roland Gumpert has already signed some successful cars, and with Nathalie he surprised us too. A fuel cell that uses methanol to generate electricity is an ingenious idea that is definitely worth considering.

Roland Gumpert Nathalie is a two-door super sports car with a futuristic look and unusual powertrains. 2Way it is energy concept, which involves electric motors, a battery and a fuel cell that runs on methanol. In this case, we get a car that fills in three minutes, and with it we can transport up to almost 850 kilometers a long way if we drive at an average speed 80 km/h. As soon as we switch to economical driving mode, our range is extended to almost 1,200 kilometers. Methanol is cheaper from gasoline or diesel, and the by-products of decomposition are water and CO2. Using methanol and a fuel cell, remove long-term charging and significantly increase range, compared to electric cars currently on the market.

The electric motor in each bike is provided by Nathalie four-wheeled drive, and their total power ranges from 300 and 600 kW (408 – 816 hp). To accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h needs a little more than 2.5 seconds, and the final velocity is more than 306 km/h. The technology that powers Nathalie is certainly a good idea, and if we were to use green methanol obtained through chemical synthesis, Nathalie would be completely CO2 neutral. Methanol filling sites are at this time the biggest obstacle, because these are not in abundance, and it is difficult to know what will happen in the future. If nothing else, Nathalie is a great example of innovation electrically driven cars.
