40 years have passed since RUF from Pfaffenhausen introduced the SCR model. The latest SCR is back in a rejuvenated but still retro look. It boasts a body made of carbon fibers, and the so-called "monocoque" chassis is also made of them. All together, it weighs less than the current Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
At last year's Geneva Motor Show, RUFpresented the CTR model, but this year a slightly different model SCR. This represents a mix of retro looks and modern drive. It is powered by a 4-liter six-cylinder engine with a 510 horsepower and 470 Nm of torque, which will only be available with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It has the drive on the rear wheel pair and is up to speed 320 km/h. At RUF, the SCR model was marked as sports car for gentlemen, which looks just like the Porsche 911 series from the 1980s.
As already mentioned, most of the car is made of carbon fiber, which increases rigidity and improves the driver's safety in the event of a crash. The RUF SCR weighs only 1,240 kilograms, which is for 190 kilograms less than the current Porsche 911 GT3 RS and has only 10 horsepower less. If we compare the SCR model with the CTR model presented last year, the newcomer has a cleaner and less aggressive design. At first glance, you could easily mistake it for a 25-year-old Porsche. The original SCR from 1978 had 217 horsepower and was a souped-up version of the then current Porsche 911. This time it's a completely different beast, with numbers very close to the toxic Porsche 911 GT3 RS. They will only produce 15 copies per year, which enthusiasts will definitely be clamoring for.
