Salzburger Sportwelt with more than 760 kilometers of ski slopes

Salzburger Sportwelt

The Salzburger Sportwelt comprises eight holiday resorts: Flachau, Wagrain-Kleinarl, St. Johann-Alpendorf, Radstadt, Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Eben and Filzmoos. It represents the winter heart of the Skiamadé association, which with a total of 760 kilometers of ski slopes, 270 mountain and lift facilities and 25 ski and snowboard schools and more than 120 ski huts is considered to be the largest ski party in Austria.

They are also in the region this year SalzburgerSportwelt invested a lot in new cable cars. The cable car "G-Link Wagrain", stretching across the valley, opens up completely new dimensions. The cable car connects three ski resorts - Flachau, Wagrain and St. Johann-Alpendorf, where two new cable cars were also built. The G-Link Wagrain is a prime example of modern cable car technology in the Alps: the swing cable car that stretches across the valley not only connects two ski mountains and three ski areas, but is also a magnificent testament to the top technological achievements on the mountain. The direct connection between the Grießenkareck and Grafenberg mountains is 2.3 kilometers long. G-Link Wagrain has two gondola cabins with a total capacity of 130 people. The ride from mountain to mountain takes six minutes, and the maximum distance from the ground is 232 meters. Among the events that will take place this winter in the "Salzburg Sports World", there are quite a few unusual ones, for example the 35th Dopgas International Balloon Festival, which will take place between January 11 and 18 in Filzmoos, March 22 and 23 The world tour in beach volleyball visited Wagrain, and on January 25, St. Johann-Alpendorf held the world championship in speedway on ice.

Obertauern, which until now was considered a winter sports and après ski fortress and in recent years has also become an excellent winter destination for families, is now the first address for demanding snowboarders and freestyle skiers. "The Spot" offers pleasures at an altitude of 1,740 meters above sea level, where a state-of-the-art freestyle snow park is located, thus rounding off the offer. It ranges from the family ski park for the youngest guests "Bibo-Bär" to the freestyle snow park for the younger crowd to the Turkish circuit for the most demanding skiers of all ages and the Gamsleiten 2 track, which is considered one of the steepest tracks in the Alps and is intended for experienced and brave skiers. April will be a lucky month in Obertauern for adventurers who will set off in search of treasure buried in the snow on the Gamsleiten 2 track. As part of the eighth treasure hunt from April 24 to 27, 2014, the main prize will be a BMW 3 touring car. They bury a box in the snow, which contains the key that enables the ownership of a luxury vehicle. In order to find this box, on April 26, more than a thousand participants will once again take to the Gamsleiten 2 course in Obertauern with shovels. But so that the search for the main prize would not be too easy and other participants could also hope for a new vehicle, there are a total of 30 chests buried in the snow, all of which contain prizes, but only one contains the main prize. Rich prizes, travel vouchers and much more await other finders or participants, which is even more reason to visit Austrian ski resorts throughout the ski season.
