Scientists have revealed which genes we receive from our parents! And the results are surprising!

Surely someone has already told you that you are a carbon copy of one of your parents. Regardless of whether it is the mother or the father, we can trust you that this is not quite the case.

To begin with, we would like to warn you that appearance and well-being do not depend only on genes, but also from lifestyle. Just because you inherited good genes doesn't mean you don't need to take care of your body and mind.

In most cases, children inherit from their parents the shape of the tip of the nose, the size of the cheekbones, the corners of the eyes and the shape of the chin. The similarity of people can be concluded precisely on the basis of the listed characteristics.

Mother's genes usually form 50 % of the child's DNA-yes, while the father's genes occupy the remaining half. At the same time, it should be noted that male genes are more aggressive than female genes, which is why they are usually expressed in a slightly higher percentage. The child thus receives approx 60 % active men and 40 % active female genes.

Science has been able to prove that we are more likely to inherit specific types of genes from a particular parent. So which characteristics did you get from your mother and which from your father?

Sex

The sex of the child is determined by the father.
The sex of the child is determined by the father.

Child's sex is dependent on his father. The embryo receives from the mother the X chromosome, and from his father X chromosome or Y chromosome. If the father contributes the first, a girl will cry into the world, and if the second, a boy.

If a man has many brothers in his family, it is to be expected that he will have more sons than daughters. The same applies in the opposite case.

Y chromosomes have fewer genes than X chromosomes, and some of them are responsible for the development of male reproductive organs. For this reason, the boy is more likely to be more like his mother. In girls, this is impossible to predict, as they receive an X chromosome from both parents.

Teeth

If a father has to visit the dentist often, there is a good chance that his children will dental problems. Although the shape and size of the teeth can be inherited from both parents, the father's genes are still dominant.

Intelligence

The son's intelligence depends on the mother.
The son's intelligence depends on the mother.

Gene, responsible for the development of intelligence, can be found in the X chromosome. Sons therefore take their intelligence from their mother, and daughters from both parents. We must not forget that we only inherit 40 % intelligence, and most of it is acquired through hard work throughout life.

Mental illnesses

Sperm quality declines with age. Older people can thus pass it on to their descendants mutated genes, which increase the chances for the development of mental illnesses such as autism, hyperactivity and bipolar disorder. Children whose father is older at birth 45 years, are also more susceptible to suicidal tendencies and learning disabilities. They are also passed down from generation to generation heart disease.

Hemophilia and autism

Some diseases affect only men, which infects them carrier mother. This occurs when a mother passes an X chromosome to her son with a mutated gene that the son cannot replace, as he only has one X chromosome. Such diseases include hemophilia, which prevents patients from clotting, and autism.

Obesity

A healthy diet leads to a better figure.

People obesity many times we inherit from parents, especially mother. Some people therefore find it a bit more difficult to get rid of extra pounds. Nevertheless, a balanced diet and physical activity always bring results.

Height

Fathers they influence the height of their offspring more than their mothers. It is generally believed that the height in the 60-80 % is determined by genes, while the remaining proportion is influenced by diet, lifestyle and health. Younger children are usually smaller than older children.

How can you calculate your child's height?
Boy: (mother's height + father's height + 13 cm)/2
Girl: (mother's height + father's height - 13 cm)/2

Eye color

Blue eyes are considered the most beautiful.
Blue eyes are considered the most beautiful.

Gene for brown eye color is dominant, which means that it will overcome the recessive gene for blue color. It is therefore gratifying that blue beats green in most cases. Who wouldn't want a baby with blue eyes...

Wrinkles

Wrinkles belong to recessive traits. If one of your parents has wrinkles, there's a good chance you'll get them too.

Wavy hair

Wavy hair is something special.

Wavy hair is beautiful, so many parents dream of growing it on their child's head. Unfortunately, a child is only guaranteed to have wavy hair if both parents have it.
