In September 1892, the new building of the Provincial Theater was ceremoniously opened in Ljubljana.
Ignac Boršnik gave a solemn speech, and members of the Dramatic Society performed in Veronika Deseniška's play. It was a great holiday for Slovenians in Ljubljana and Kranjska, as the efforts to get a purpose-built theater building were finally realized. When, after several years of renovation, we expect the Ljubljana Opera to open its doors again, it is an appropriate moment to look back on its history.
