Another year is slowly coming to an end... Whether it was kind, important, sunny - decide for yourself. In any case, the old year will soon ring out, the clock will strike midnight and we will bow to the new year 2012!
The theme of the December showcase of the month is the clock. The clock as a symbol of passing, the birth of the new, a symbol of the end or the beginning. The first human clock was certainly the sky and the change of day and night. Solar, water, sand, mechanical, electric, digital clocks followed. Clocks often appear in proverbs, thoughts, fairy tales, stories, they are sung by poets, painted by painters, torn apart by curious children, written about in magazines and books... The smaller book exhibition is enlivened by four clocks from the picturesque collection of the National Museum of Slovenia: two table clocks from the 18th century, a men's pocket watch from the 19th century and an Art Nouveau table clock from the beginning of the 20th century.
Author of the showcase of the month: Urša Pajk; selection of watches: Dr. Maja Lozar Štamcar
