The Museum of Architecture and Design Ljubljana in co-production with the European Capital of Culture Maribor 2012/Terminal 12 presents an exhibition in the Maribor Art Gallery Silent Revolutions, modern design in Slovenia, with a selection of design projects that marked the first two decades of the country's existence. The selected design works embody the passions and obsessions of individual creators as well as drive, innovative development and high-quality production, from Franco Kuzma's filigree turntables and the seductive Black Cherry Lamps by designer Nike Zupanc to the world's first major hybrid vessel Greenline 33 Hybrid by Seaway and modular facade systems Qbiss One with ArtMe developed by Trimo. The exhibition also presents key products of the giants of the Slovenian industry, among others Elan's revolutionary WaveFlex ski series, designed with the Gigodesign studio, Alpina's Racing Elite cross-country ski boots, developed with the Jure Miklavc studio, and Gorenje's line of Simplicity Gorenje Design household appliances. Studios.

The exhibition presents selected works of more than 25 Slovenian designers and is the first large-scale international presentation of Slovenian product design in the last twenty years. With the selection of designer products at the exhibition, both important companies that have developed brands as well as individual designers that have produced products in limited series are put under the spotlight. At the same time, a wide range of recent design examples is placed in dialogue with five historical, iconic design objects by Slovenian designers from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Exhibition Silent Revolutions, modern design in Slovenia  is expanded in Maribor with more extensive presentations of some designers and studios, whose selected products are also part of the group exhibition. The way of presentation is in the domain of designers and, unlike the group presentation of objects selected by the curator, allows a broader view into their thinking and creation.

The exhibition in the Maribor Art Gallery is already the fifth in a series of international presentations of Slovenian design and companies. Before that, from the end of 2011, it was already successfully presented at the London Design Festival in Great Britain, at the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, at the Triennale di Milano and recently at Belgrade Design Week.
