The story of the complete 'unmasking' of the new Škoda Scala was very short. It all started in the month of July, when we saw the first hidden photos, and in the month of December, the final product is already in front of us. The Škoda Scala will become a stronger player in the hatchback compact car segment, taking on the likes of the Volkswagen Golf, Ford Fokus, Seat Leon, Kia Ceed, Hyundai i30 and others.
Too bad Scala it did not wait until the Geneva Motor Show for its presentation, but instead outran the other manufacturers and made sure that the spotlight was directed only at the newest Škoda model with a cropped rear. The wheelbase has also increased, which means that we have inside more space for passengers, and the luggage compartment is increased from 415 on 467 liters. If we fold the seats, we get za 1,410 liters space as it is 30 liters more than the Rapid Spaceback model. With this, Škoda Scala became the owner of the title the largest luggage space in the segment.
The Škoda Scala's strong focus is precisely on it spaciousness. But if we forget this fact for a moment and look at it from all sides, we will quickly realize that it is extraordinary attractive. All the more, compared to the model that succeeded it. Good appearance of course it has to be emphasized, especially if it intends to compete with extremely popular rivals with a cropped rear.
Škoda also mentions that the design elements shown on the new Scala will continue to be seen in the future, on other new models. The Scala is very similar to the Vision RS concept, but it's even more exciting than the Scala.
The appearance surprised us, as did the spaciousness of the new Scala. But we were not surprised by the engines, because it is about already known Volkswagen Group engines. The Škoda Scala will be available 1.0-liter TSI 3-cylinder motor with 95 horsepower and 5-speed Manual transmission. The same engine will also be available with 115 horsepower and 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic DSG gearbox. At 1.5-liter TSI we will have the same gearbox and jump gears available for the engine 150 horsepower. It will be the same at 1.6-liter diesel that has available 115 horsepower. Towards the end of 2019, a version powered by it will be available CNG gas.
The interior of the Škoda Scala is something completely another, like the interior of the Rapida Spaceback. Scala is much more elegant, has better materials and a high level of technological accessories. We can think optionally digitized gauges in size 10.25-in, but it is still available 9.2-inch touch-sensitive info-telematics screen.
The entertainment and information system of the latest generation will be updated via a mobile signal and will also provide continuous access online presence. Technology cannot be thought of only in the interior, as customers will be able to order the Scala with LEDs front and rear lights.
Škoda Scala can boast of spaciousness, modern appearance, modern technology and improved characters. It will be available from the second quarter of 2019 onwards.
