SladoLent was a peripheral event of the Lent Festival six years ago, but today it is hard to imagine Lent without it. SladoLent 2016 is therefore a logical continuation of the culinary story written by top chefs and a crowd of people who rush to this culinary festival in Maribor like the Drava river rushes after a storm. Between June 24 and July 2, 2016, it will host as many as 27 chefs who will once again turn Maribor into the culinary capital of Slovenia.
It's getting close SladoLent 2016, a holiday that celebrates in the best possible way street food. In our country, street food sticks like rice to the bottom of the pan if you stir it too much during cooking. She chose a unique status and became a real hit, but not a one-day fad, as they both prove Open kitchen and SladoLent for the sixth year in a row, the largest street food promenade in Slovenia, which will once again host the big names of Slovenian cuisine this year. Guests will be able to choose among more than 60 original culinary street creations, which will complement them top wines.
Even though the financial crisis, just like in Festival Lent, stubbornly ate into SladoLent like a bottle of red wine into a white dress, it cannot survive. Nevertheless, minor changes were made. This year, the center of gravity of the festival moves permanently to the "living room" of Maribor, that is, to Leona Štuklja square, and SladoLent remains along the Drava coast. And although they will be with us the grandmasters of the kitchen, for their dishes you do not need a reservation, nor a special toilet.
SladoLent is one of a kind a creative culinary platform, where chefs give free rein to imagination and creativity. They will present themselves in the evening three chefs, who will offer hungry guests po two signature dishes, and they will be in charge of the wines recognized local winemakers (the noble "big band" will include 24 selected Slovenian winemakers). It's news soundstage, because every evening will have its own musical story.
