The Slovenian Book Fair 2019, which will take place from November 26 to December 1, will be the 35th in a row. The largest meeting place for publishers, booksellers, authors and readers of all ages, will be accompanied by more than three hundred free accompanying events, talks, signings, presentations, awards... and visitors will have the opportunity to meet their stars and get to know them face to face .
Slovenian Book Fair 2019 will be dedicated, among other things, to a poet, writer, priest, literary critic, linguist, translator, teacher, editor, journalist, archaeologist, tourist... an important Slovene, Valentin Vodnik. This year we are celebrating 200th anniversary of his death. Vodnik was one of the most famous representatives of the Enlightenment in Slovenia, the idea of the beginning and foundation of the modern period of European culture and history. That's also why at the book fair Europe is hosting this year or eight European countries that have cultural representations here. Each will host one author, literary critic and publisher. He will also be a guest Murska Sobota (this year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the annexation of Prekmurje to the motherland), which will bring to the fair the magic of the Prekmurje plains and Government Kreslin.
In recent years, following the example of foreign fairs, efforts have been made to make fair visitors friendlier and their journey after the fair easier spatially rounding and grouping exhibitors related in content. Thus, the current academic quarters, religious publishing houses, university publishing houses and the bazaar will be joined this year by public sector, Styrian publishers and maybe someone else.
