The Slovenian chair - Smart Froc - is the first smart children's chair #Kickstarter

The flexible wooden children's chair Froc, the result of a collaboration between the design agency Gigodesign and the pond company Rimarket, will be even more lively from now on. In addition to stable and safe seating for children - they can sit on it from the age of six months up to the age of ten - parents will be offered monitoring of the child's weight. Smart Froc, which is entirely developed and manufactured in Slovenia, will also be presented on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter in the fall.

Froc premiered at the Slovenian furniture fair Ambient in 2012 and immediately received the "Top of the Top" award for the best product of the fair. Since then, hundreds of children have received their Froc from Slovenia, USA, Europe and even Japan, and since last year, Froci for Froci are even more comfortable, as they have been added to them colorful pads, which can be combined at will with one of the five colors of the chair.

The next upgrade, which will be presented to the public this fall, is even more ambitious. Namely, they will add a "shell" to the chair to make it suitable for feeding the youngest children, and at the same time built into it technology that will automatically measure the child's weight while sitting in the chair and communicated it to an application on a smartphone or tablet.

By combining the high chair and scale into one smart piece and connecting them to a mobile app that will record the child's progress, will make it easier for parents to monitor their child's development. In the future, in cooperation with MakerLab from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Ljubljana, which participates in the technical development of the solution, plan that parents will monitor the child's weight in addition to attitude of little older children.

In order to start mass production of the smart Froc while keeping its price affordable for all parents, the team needs around 100 thousand US dollars. They will go to the most popular crowdfunding platform in September Kickstarter.

Based on the responses so far, they estimate that the product is attractive to the public, but at the same time practical and – as the first children's chair with built-in technology in the world – original, it will convince the community from all over the world.
