The designers of the house Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects presented the line of urban furniture Solid, which, due to its versatility and durability, is the winner of the recognized German award for achievements in design red dot 2009. The furniture is characterized by the raw, industrial look of concrete, which with its strength and durability on the one hand and the elegance of the form and small details on the other is characterized by a harsh urban environment. The line consists of a trough for trees or bushes, which also function as a place to sit, a garbage container, street lights, bollards for determining the boundary and bollards intended for tethering four-legged friends, if we have to leave them alone for a moment. Each individual piece is a combination of polished concrete and metal that work as a rounded whole. Particularly interesting, designed with a sense of space and modern guidelines, are the street lamps. Their advantage, in addition to durability and undemanding maintenance, is low energy consumption. The concrete column covers the metal part in which the LED lamp is placed. Compared to conventional light sources, this has many advantages, such as low energy consumption, longer lifetime, minimal heating and, last but not least, the small size of the housing. The exterior surfaces of urban centers deserve exactly the same degree of accuracy in furnishing as living and working spaces, because due to the modern rhythm of life, we move a lot, even during working hours, between different locations. The Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects team took every factor into consideration when designing the imaginative and functional elements of the Solid furniture line. The result is highly functional and visually appealing furniture, at home in city centers.
