Somnox is a cute robot that is supposed to calm the user before and during sleep by regulating the breathing rhythm.
No wonder we have people because of fast lifestyle and a large number of concerns often sleep disorders. Stress accompanies us even when we finally lie down in bed, so it is important to know how to calm down. A team from the Netherlands This is Delft has developed for this purpose the smart sleep robot Somnox. The user hugs this before going to sleep, and Somnox evens out with the user's breathing stretches and contracts thus helping the user easier to fall asleep.
With help measurements of exhaled carbon dioxide determine when the user really sleep, and gradually slows down the user's breathing rhythm. Slowed breathing soothes the user's amygdala (fear center in the brain) which makes it sleep less stressful. They are also helpful soothing sounds, which make it easier to relax before going to bed. Peaceful sleep does not come cheap, as the Somnox robot costs quite a bit 599 euros.
