Still life: Evocative art from washed-up trash

Along the Mexican coast on the Caribbean side is Sian Ka'an, a protected nature reserve into which sea currents bring huge amounts of trash every day. Mexican artist Alejandro Duran he creates colorful landscape art from various garbage washed up from more than 50 different countries, with which he examines the tense relationship between nature and the (over)developed world and communicates that they are not safe from a world obsessed with consumerism, nor are they untouched and under UNESCO -m protected areas.
