Did you know that in the center of Ljubljana there is a workshop where modern design meets the printing trade, which for half a millennium was the key to the transmission of humanist thought and would have almost disappeared with the rapid technological development of the last few decades. Therefore, do not hesitate and visit the opening of the educational center for letterpress, calligraphy and letter carving of studio tipoRenesansa and the exhibition of Ex libris for books by the designer Miljenko Licul.
After ten years of collecting and editing, it is House of Zois at Breg 22 in Ljubljana, richer for all the equipment they moved and created one of the few studios and workshops for old printing techniques in our country with a public character. Not only can tourists enter at any time and view the equipment and/or printing for free, they have also connected with kindergartens, schools and academies and started to systematically implement Letterpress workshops. Thus, they have become a reference institution for conducting such workshops, as there is nothing similar in Slovenia, and they are even asked for advice from neighboring countries.
With the encouragement of the Municipality of Ljubljana, we arranged additional rooms for education in the empty premises of the Zois house. We have also (re)arranged this space into an old printing house, which, together with the already existing workshop, can accommodate as many as 30 participants at the same time. With the educational center, we have gained an exceptional opportunity to transfer knowledge in the field of visual culture.
On Friday, November 21, 2014, at 6 p.m., the premises will be opened at Breg 22 in Ljubljana by Deputy Mayor Janez Koželj and Dean of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design Assoc. prof. Boštjan Botas Kenda. The ex libris exhibition will be opened by Assoc. prof. Ranko Novak.
