Have you walked on the castle hill in Ljubljana lately? If you did, did you notice anything unusual? Something like 3 cubes stacked on top of each other? Yes? Well, let us tell you that it is a modular living unit, which is the fruit of the imagination and knowledge of Slovenian architects from the Ofis studio.
The facility, which was created in cooperation with the Italian company C+C, C28 and the Slovenian carpentry Permiz, is in made entirely of Slovenian spruce wood. The basic idea was that the modules would allow different purposes of temporary use, from tourist facilities to stay. The basic model consists of one module size 4.50 m x 2.50 m, heights 2.70 m, which is sufficient for two persons. They are inside kitchen, bathroom, the bed and seats. You can stack it horizontally or vertically. The library at the Castle is organized vertically, so that on each floor there are books on different topics, and the corner Plečnik and architecture in books found a special place. If you want to read with a view of Ljubljana, there are also platforms outside.
"The building promotes Slovenian carpentry and the traditional knowledge of the carpentry and carpentry profession," said the Ofis architects studio.
We can be proud.
