Summer at the cinema: films in July and August that will leave a mark

Filmu - summer 2016

When deciding how to spend a summer evening, the cinema is certainly not the first choice, but an escape to pleasantly cooled cinemas will still fit in here and there, especially since the top films themselves invite you there. Are you wondering which one? These are the films in July and August that you simply must see!

We present the films that will mark the second half of summer 2016:

The Legend of Tarzan (The Legend of Tarzan)

7/7/2016 / Cineplexx, Coliseum

The Legend of Tarzan is considered one of the most anticipated films of 2016. There are many reasons for this. But suffice it to say that the film is signed by David Yates, who already impressed us with the Harry Potter films, and that the film stars Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood, Battleship) as Tarzan, Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad, The Wolf of Wall Street) as Jane, Samuel L. Jackson (The Hateful Eight) and Christoph Waltz, who most recently played the main villain in a James Bond film (Spectre). It is a modern version of the classic story, which takes place far from the African wilderness and many years after Lord Greystoke, once known as Tarzan, waved goodbye to the African jungle and exchanged a life in the wild for a ladylike life in civilization. When he is invited back to the Congo as an emissary of the parliament, not knowing that he is only a figure in the game of greed and revenge of the Belgian captain Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz), after realizing the plan, a beast awakens in him that nothing can stop.

Ghostbusters

28/07/2016 / Cineplexx, Colosseum

Who will you call? Exorcists, excuse me, exorcists! In a reboot of the popular film franchise and more than 30 years after the original, the foursome return, only this time the ghosts will be chased away by women, as Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Hudson fill the shoes of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson Jones. Time will tell if these were too big for them. The original film hit the screens back in 1984, five years later it got a sequel, and soon we are expecting a remake by Paul Feig, who masterfully navigated the Rejected Family and The Office series, so we can expect plenty of laughs. In addition to the foursome, the film hosts Chris Hemsworth, and Andy Garcia, Michael Kenneth Williams, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver and Bill Murray, who made Ghostbusters a global star, appear in supporting roles.

Star Trek: Beyond (Star Trek Beyond)

28/07/2016 / Cineplexx, Colosseum

If Star Wars is the Apple, Star Wars is the Samsung of the movie world. The latest work will not be directed by JJ Abrams, who successfully revived the space franchise in 2009, since he "moved from Barcelona to Real" (read: he directed the last part of Star Wars), but Justin Lin, who has signed four more parts one of the forces of the successful, but not the space, but the octane Fast and the Furious franchise. The 2009 film (simply called Star Trek) was a cinematic treat that satisfied both old (read: old fans) and young (read: gained new fans), the sequel (Star Trek: Into Darkness, 2013) is was less successful, and the third film in the series again fills us with hope that we fans will be fully satisfied. All the old faces return to the screen, namely Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban and Zoe Saldana, and the villain, the Klingon, will be played by Idris Elba. In the film, we will also see the tragically deceased Anton Yelchin for the last time.

Jason Bourne

4/8/2016 / Cineplexx, Coliseum

Along the path of memories and camaraderie. After eight years, the fifth chapter of the Bourne franchise returns Matt Damon as secret agent Bourne, who skipped the fourth part, while Jeremy Renner (The Avengers) kept the story of the franchise alive as Bourne's deputy Aaron Cross. The continuation of the franchise is simply called Jason Bourne, and in it, in addition to Matt Damon (Who is Bourne, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimate), the director Paul Greengrass (with whom Damon conditioned his return) returns, who already directed The Bourne Ultimate and The Bourne Supremacy , and Julia Stiles. Among the newcomers are famous names such as Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl), Tommy Lee Jones (Men in Black), Vincent Cassel (Black Swan) and Riz Ahmed. The triumphant march of the popular action spy franchise, based on the books of Robert Ludlum, clearly continues.

The Unwritten Squad is one of the most anticipated films of 2016. It consists of the world's most dangerous supervillains, who are given the most effective weapons by the government in the fight against a mysterious invincible entity. It is the first film in DC's (Marvel's rival) film world, in which only villains and anti-heroes will be the focus. The film boasts an extremely strong cast. Here are Margot Robbie as the villain Harley Quinn, Batman's eternal adversary and the biggest fan of the Joker, who will be played by Jared Leto, Will Smith as the mercenary Deadshot, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as the mutant villain Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as the anti-hero El Diablo, Adam Beach as killer Slipknot, Jai Courtney as Flash's adversary, Captain Boomerang, model Cara Delevingne as the mysterious Enchantress, Joel Kinnaman as military expert and squad leader Rick Flagg, and Karen Fukuhara as swordsman Katana. Sausage party

18/08/2016 / Cineplexx

Sausage Rebellion is an animated comedy about cute sausages and other food. But don't let that fool you. Although it is an animated comedy, children are not advised to watch it. When you get to know who is behind the project, it will be clear as day why. Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jonah Hill are reason enough to keep kids far away from a movie in which food learns the cruel fate that awaits it when it leaves the shelves. In the foreground are the sausages, who sincerely want to know what life is like behind the walls of the shop, which they imagine as an image of paradise. But the truth is cruel and the dream quickly turns into the worst nightmare. In the film, animals, sorry, food, were voiced by Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton and Salma Hayek. in addition to the "bloody" scenes, the chopping of "limbs" and the tanning of the skin, we also witness juicy curses like juicy Carniolan sausages.

Ben-Hur

28/08/2016 / Cineplexx

Although we never asked for a remake, in 2016 the adaptation of Ben-Hur, the timeless classic from 1959 starring Charlton Heston, which won 11 Oscars, is coming to the big screen. Russian-Kazakh director Timur Bekmambetov (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, original directed by William Wyler) took the director's baton this time, and this biblical tale about a betrayed Jewish prince and a wealthy merchant is the third film adaptation of the 1880 book of the same name by Lew Wallace . Time will tell how successfully Timur navigated this barge, but above all it will be interesting to see how he will pull off one of the most famous scenes of all time, the nine-minute scene of the Roman chariot race, in the filming of which as many as 15 thousand extras participated, and for which they also built the largest scenery until that time. 1959's Ben-Hur, with a budget of US$15 million, was up to that time the most expensive film ever made. Ben-Hur has not surpassed this record for the third millennium, nor is it expected to win 11 Oscars.

The Infamous Florence (Florence Foster Jenkins)

1/9/2016 / Coliseum

Stephen Frears' film The Infamous Florence is a biographical film about Florence Foster Jenkins (1868-1944). We'll give the movie the biggest compliment if we say that you wouldn't have figured it out if you hadn't read it. It is based on the true story of possibly the worst soprano of all time (played by Merly Streep), who had no sense of rhythm or ear, but became extremely popular despite (or because of) it. She was aware of her critics, whom she characterized as professional jealousy, but she herself was convinced of the greatness of her talent and, without a hint of shame, compared herself to famous sopranos, while you yourself would only dare to sing with that voice in the shower. She was the only singer, if you can call her that, who sold out New York's famous Carnegie Hall concert hall. Even today, when we are used to everything bad (read: that successful singers can't actually sing), her interpretations provoke laughter.
