After last year's successful tour, the British stand-up comedian Jimmy Carr is returning to Cankarjev dom on September 18, 2016 as part of the Funny Business tour. Since all 1,500 seats for his performance were already sold out, and the demand for tickets did not dry up, the organizer announced an additional performance.

On October 17, 2016, Cankarjev dom will host the first Top Vino by eVino wine festival, an international wine festival where all the world's best wines will be on display and tasted, including 11 Bordeaux chateaux, which among wines mean what they mean in the culinary world restaurants decorated with Michelin stars. In addition to them, Top Vino 2016 will also host the best wines from the wine cellars of Italian Tuscany, Spain, Portugal, New Zealand, Austria and the American California, but to keep the blacksmith's mare barefoot, the best 30 Slovenian winemakers will also be at the festival.
The annual production of the best Slovenian folklore ensemble is coming, in which more than 75 dancers, musicians and singers participate. Here comes Incognito, the 68th annual production of the Academic Folklore Group of France Marolt. The folklore spectacle, which will show something that has not been shown before, will premiere on May 14, 2016 in the Linhart Hall of Cankarjev dom.
Nikola Tesla is probably the most overlooked genius in history, who is only recently gaining the recognition he deserves. He was a brilliant scientist, inventor and engineer who patented around three hundred inventions in his lifetime. The exhibition Nikola Tesla - the man of the future will consist of several thematic sections, which will be accompanied by interesting exhibits. You will find it in the premises of Cankarjev dom, between April 11 and November 6, 2016.
The documentary film festival has come of age and will once again offer an overview of the best of current documentary production. In cooperation with Amnesty International, at the end of the festival, the award for the best film on the topic of human rights will be awarded, for which Censored Voices, Sonita, The Fog of Srebrenica, Children of the Transition and Lampedusa in Winter will compete, and the closing film of the festival will be a documentary with the interesting title Chuck Norris against communism.
2016 is the year of Shakespeare. Why? Because this year marks exactly 400 years since his death. On this occasion, many Slovenian cultural institutions are preparing events that will honor this important anniversary, and among them are SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana and Cankarjev dom. In the latter, on January 21, the premiere of Verdi's famous opera Otello will take place, which will be performed by the soloists, choir and orchestra of SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana.
From December 28 to 31, the Chinese National Peking Opera Theater will host the Monkey King in the Gallus Hall of Cankarjev dom. The show, in which more than 50 actors are masters of acrobatics and martial arts at the same time, is a feast for the eyes with its intricate make-up art and rich costumes.
On New Year's Eve, all tastes will be catered for in Ljubljana's Cankarjev dom. For those who swear by the classic Moliere and his eternal comedy Tartuffe, the latter will be shown at 8 pm in the Linhart Hall, and for others who swear by more provocative content, the cabaret by Patty Diphus will be shown at the CD Club at 9 pm , confessions of a porn diva.
On November 23rd and December 1st and 3rd, a play produced by the ŠKUC theater Without Tears for Peders (NTFQ), written by Johan Hilton and Mattias Brunn, will take place in the Štih hall of Cankarjev dom.
On November 15, the listeners in the Gallus hall of Cankarjev dom will without a doubt be transported to mysterious Africa in our thoughts and rhythm. After almost two decades of coordinating dates and making arrangements, the Bonar-percussion band Drummers of Burundi is finally coming to Ljubljana.
On September 29 and 30 and October 1, the evenings in the Gallus hall of Cankarjev dom will be marked by the stomping of horse hooves and flamenco. A show with horses is coming to the Ljubljana stage: Golgotha.
On Tuesday, June 9, the Gallus Hall of Cankarjev dom will once again host the international chanson festival La vie en rose 2015 for the last time. They will be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Edith Piaf and a selection of the most interesting performers of the 15-year history of the La vie en rose festival.
