As an official partner of the Olympic Games in Sochi, Volkswagen took its role very seriously. More than 3,000 Volkswagen, Audi and Škoda vehicles contributed, but what stands out the most is the monstrous Polar Expedition Amarok, which was designed a year ago to promote the event even in the most remote regions of Russia.

We are only a few days away from the start of the biggest event in winter sports. The Games also represent one of the biggest sporting events in the history of the host country, Russia. Here are ten interesting facts you may not have known about the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi. 
The Olympic Games are approaching at the speed of light, which means a lot of such events for sports fans. Before leaving for Soča, the national team will present themselves to the media and fans, who will, among other things, write February 3, when it will be Slovenian hockey day, in their calendars.  
Before July 2007, few people had heard of the Russian resort on the Black Sea. Some knew it as a former meeting place of the Soviet elite, where Stalin arranged his popular dacha, others heard of it because it lies only a few kilometers from the border with Abkhazia, a separatist part of Georgia, or an independent country recognized only by Russia and four other countries in the world.  
Despite the fact that sportsmanship and healthy competition are at the fore at the Olympic Games, the promotion of the country, which sportsmen and women take care of with their results, should not be neglected. Willingly or unwittingly, they also draw attention to themselves through the appearance of the official national team uniforms that Olympians and Paralympians wear at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games, during the competitive part of the Games and in their free time in the Olympic Village.  
It is less than three weeks until the start of the biggest sporting event of the year, the Winter Olympics in Sochi (soccer fans would be able to dispute this, as Brazil will host the 20th FIFA World Cup between June 9 and July 9), and preparations for it have been underway since in 2007.
