Telekom Slovenije and Samsung will donate part of the funds from every Samsung Galaxy S10+ and Samsung Galaxy A70 sold to the Slovenian Oncology Society for Men OnkoMan in November, when activities are being held in the field of prostate cancer awareness. The OnkoMan Association is collecting funds for the purchase of a simulator for transurethral operations on the urinary bladder and prostate, which will enable better and more efficient endoscopic treatment of patients with benign prostate enlargement and bladder tumors.
After Pink October, which is dedicated to breast cancer awareness, November is dedicated to public awareness on health and diseases affecting men. According to the latest data, around 1,700 men fall ill with prostate cancer in Slovenia every year, and almost 400 of them die, while prostate cancer is at the same time the most common cancer in men.
Gregor Pirc, president of the Slovenian Oncology Society for Men OnkoMan, says that they are men "outwardly real heroes and machos until it's necessary to see a doctor. That's when our weakness and softness is revealed. And this fear is the reason why we die more often than women. A hard shell and a soft interior are characteristics of cancer. And that's our character, external factors can't do anything to us as long as we have family and friends. But when we are alone, we become aware of our own fear and softness. Soft insides don't give us the courage to apologize, to admit our mistakes, let alone go to the doctor. A hard shell only makes us miss life. And that is exactly why our association was created: to make Slovenian men and their loved ones aware that prevention is important and that we are here for all those who have just stepped into our shoes. This year, with the support of the Association of Urologists of Slovenia, we started collecting funds for the purchase of a urological surgery simulator. We are extremely honored and happy that Telekom Slovenije and Samsung also recognized the value of our work and joined the campaign.”
Why does Slovenia need a urological simulator?
The urological simulator enables high-quality endoscopic treatment of patients with benign prostate enlargement and bladder tumors. The advantage of the simulator is reduction of intraoperative complications (less blood loss, fewer bladder perforations, etc.) and faster discharge to home care. At the same time, the advantage of the simulator is that it is mobile and thus intended for all Slovenian hospitals to simulate the treatment of patients.
Mobile phone Samsung Galaxy S10+ and Samsung Galaxy A70 are at Telekom Slovenije available in November as the Blue Background of the Month. With a 24-month contract, the Samsung Galaxy A70 is already available from 10 euros per month, and the Samsung Galaxy S10+ from 29.50 euros per month.
