Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro test: a robot vacuum cleaner that not only cleans, but almost convinces you that you need it more than a partner

After years of loyalty to two older Xiaomi vacuum cleaners, I tried out a new one - the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro. And I admit: this is no longer a "vacuum robot", this is a household CEO.

Our beginning with Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro was a kind of mixture of nostalgia and a touch of distrust.

When I first let my first Xiaomi robot vacuum across my living room four years ago, I was thrilled. At the time, it seemed almost magical that someone (well, something) was vacuuming for me. Eventually, I replaced it with the second generation – the mop was better, the orientation was better, but… I still had to rescue it from under the chair, clean the bristles tangled with hair, and almost send it a NASA navigation system to find the entrance to the kitchen.

But with the arrival Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro I got the feeling that robots had learned to... think. And see. And suck with a power previously reserved for industrial devices.

What do you get when you combine AI, cameras, and the suction power of a mini tornado?

I know, it sounds like science fiction, but the new generation of Xiaomi robots has AI triple camera, consisting of an RGB camera, two infrared cameras and a 3D dot projector. What does this mean in practice? That the robot can see you. Well, not you personally, but your home, your shoes, your cables, your pet, even those pants you left in the middle of the living room. And it knows not to run over them. A true gentle-bot.

The system recognizes more than 200 types of objects and 47 types of dirt – yes, DIRT. I don’t know who studied these types of dirt, but there’s clearly a lot of them. And that means the robot adjusts its cleaning based on whether it’s crumbs, cat litter, or dried mud (which you or your child – probably both – brought back from a walk).

And since AI doesn't sleep, it also has night vision with LED lighting – because sometimes you vacuum when no one is home, and he'd rather see where he's going than pick up your slippers and throw them in the dustbin.

Live streaming from the living room: yes, your robot has a camera – and it's HD

Now for something for fans of technology and… voyeurism? Well, not in that way. The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro has built-in 5 MP HD camera, with which you can monitor your home live, record and even... take photos of your dog sleeping on the couch.

You can control the robot from anywhere via the Xiaomi Home app – from the office, a café, or on vacation. Watching it vacuum live can be a strange but unexpectedly soothing form of procrastination.

When it comes to cleaning – it's no longer a joke

Now really: this machine has fan power 20,000 PaIf that number doesn't tell you anything, let me give you a comparison: my previous robot had around 2000-2500 Pa. That means this new little beast of a vacuum, which pulls everything from cat hair to carpet lint, is so deep that even the carpet breathes a sigh of relief.

At the same time, it also has anti-tangle system: the main and side brushes have built-in blades, which cut hair and other tangled “loops” during cleaning, which used to make me disassemble the robot like a surgeon every week. Now? 99 % of hair plucked and me – without tweezers and a nervous breakdown.

From corner to corner, without a hole in the plan

One of the biggest drawbacks of previous generations was cleaning around the edges. I always had to manually “finish” with a broom because the robot just didn’t go all the way to the edge. Now the story is finally changing: retractable side brush and smart cloth they literally “lick” the edges – no gaps, no mercy. And yes, 0 mm from the edge means exactly that.

Wet cleaning is now on a completely different level: separate water tank, precise moisture control and above all – rotating cloths with additional pressure, which rub stains, not caress them like before. If the previous robot was a “perfume after dirt”, this one is a little detergent with a brain.

Yes, it lifts the rags off the carpet. And no, it doesn't get them wet.

The biggest victory? Ultrasonic sensor recognizes carpet and instantly lifts wet cloths by 15 mm. So I can finally say goodbye to the unfortunate stains on my white carpet that the old model left after every “cleaning”.

Additionally, you can set different modes for different carpet types (low, high, avoid). My personal favorite is the “avoid anything that isn’t wood or tile” mode because I know the wet cloth will be where it needs to be.

No manual emptying, washing and drying. Really.

Now the icing on the cake: Omni station. This is no longer a “dock” – it is mini laundry, dryer and trash can in oneWash the cloths with hot water until 80 °C, dries them with hot air in 2 hours, and empties the dust into a bag that you replace every 75 daysIf that's not the definition of "living without touching dirt unnecessarily," then I don't know what is.

And yes – it even has asynchronous floating dual scrapers that clean the inside of the station (because, apparently, cleaning stations now clean themselves too). High-tech cleanliness, without your effort.

App: the control center of your little helper

You can do everything through Xiaomi Home:

  • You draw a floor plan and tell him where the kitchen is, where the bathroom is, and where the child's room is (which he should bypass - at least this week).
  • You set virtual walls (aka “don’t go into the room where you hide Christmas presents”).
  • You start cleaning while you're at work and check to see if your dog is still on the couch.
  • You connect the robot to other smart devices (e.g. an air purifier that turns on after vacuuming).
  • And of course – you use Google Assistant or Alexathat you just tell the robot to "clean daily" and it does it.

And how long does it last? Longer than I do after work.

With built-in 5200 mAh battery can clean up to 140 minutes without a break. If he runs out of energy anyway, he goes to recharge and then continues where he left off. No, he doesn't start over. Yes, many people would envy him for that.

Final Opinion: Yes, a Robot Vacuum Can Beat Your Standards

After four years with two solid Xiaomi I was skeptical about the models – how much better can they really suck? Answer: much better. And smarter. And quieter. And – most importantly – independently.

Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro It's not just an upgrade. It's a leap forward. It's a robot that actually saves you time, worry, and cleaning. If the price seems high to you – think about how much it's worth not having to worry about wet carpets, tangled hair in the bristles, emptying the bin, or washing the mop.

This is not just a robot vacuum cleaner anymore. This is your personal house assistant. That doesn't eat, sleep, or whine. Which is more than I can say for myself after 8 p.m.
