The biggest carnival in the USA is the carnival in New Orleans, called Mardi Gras. In Louisiana's Jazz City, thousands dance, sing and play every year, and the whole event is dedicated to mythological creatures, such as Edimião, Orpheus, Bacchus and King Zulu. Given the history of this American region, it's no surprise that Mardi Gras draws its inspiration from the colonial era of the 18th century, when the area was dominated by the French.
