A floating park in Rotterdam is built entirely from waste plastic

Recently, there has been a lot of outrage over plastic waste that ends up in seas, lakes and rivers. It causes an increase in pollution, and at the same time it is very dangerous for animal species.

Foundation Recycled Island it's in dutch Rotterdam took care of the creation floating park. They used it during construction recycled plastics from city rivers and harbors.

The park, which is already available to visitors, extends over the surface 140 square meters, but it consists of several hexagonal platforms. The structure has a positive impact on the environment, but at the same time it is key to the preservation of the ecosystem, as it offers habitat for plant and animal species.

However, the foundation strives to reuse the waste that people throw into rivers. By removing plastic from water before it reaches the seas and oceans, environmentalists prevent further water pollution. Among other things, they have developed special traps in which the bottles are caught. These remain trapped even when the current changes direction.

The project was carried out in cooperation with municipality of Rotterdam and many other partners, who contributed to the successful implementation.
