They recently opened a retrospective exhibition in honor of one of the most famous fashion pieces that paved the way for designer Diane von Furstenberg to become a legend.
In 1974, she was only 26 years old Diane von Furstenberg started with her American dream. She created the so-called "wrap dress”, a simple wrap dress that, after appearing on the cover of the magazine Newsweek turned out to be a new fashion phenomenon. As she modestly says, at that time she offered the world "something that came to life by itself, independently of her" and thus "helped her become the woman she always wanted to become".
Four decades later, Diane von Furstenberg's entire glittering career is summed up by 200 dolls dressed in various patterns of her most recognizable clothing. In addition, we can walk through a mosaic of initial advertising campaigns, glimpses Dianinenga private life and images of celebrities such as Jerry Hall, Cybill Shepherd and Lauren Graham, who started wearing this iconic dress. Her legacy thus leaves a unique mark not only in the context of fashion, but also in pop culture, as she significantly influenced the stories of many of today's biggest Hollywood names.
The exhibition in honor of this extraordinary symbol of female confidence, strength and freedom will be held in Los Angeles Wilshire May Company Building on view until April 1. The inspiring world of fashion trends, innovations and advice can be followed on the brand's charming blog DVF, named Lip Service.
