The Škoda 1203 concept motorhome brings an iconic vehicle from the 60s and 70s of the last century, first presented in 1968, into the present day. Daniel Hájek, a designer at the Czech car brand, gave the model a clean design that not only refers to its past, but also looks to the future. It represents a creative motorhome, but at the same time it embodies the brand's core values: practicality, plenty of interior space and simply smart solutions.
“I wanted it to be clear from my studies that it was the same vehicle, but I didn't want it to be too obviously retro. I designed a modern vehicle that pays tribute to the legend,” said the designer. "I wanted it to be timeless."
Motor home Skoda 1203 brings its design into modernity. The original grille is now defined by sharp lines, and the roof offers a “pop-up”, maximizing sleeping space. Elsewhere on the body, this "tornado line" spreads, as we see today in other models of the brand. The most modern light signatures they brighten up the front and back of the motorhome, paying subtle nods to the old round lights. A tribute to the slimness of the 1968 model are also the sloping sides and relatively narrow roof.
Inside, the motorhome could offer even more space if it were made as an angle fully electric model. The minimalist dashboard has a characteristic horizontal layout and a sliding, folding storage shelf. A smaller infotainment screen sits behind the horizontal two-spoke steering wheel, as the driver is expected to use their own device for all other services, such as entertainment and directions.
