The most economical cars on our roads

Ford Fiesta

You have probably asked yourself which are the least "greedy" cars on our roads. To solve this question once and for all, we have prepared for you a list of the most economical cars on our roads that use an internal combustion engine and are not connected to electricity.

Before we get down to the analysis, a few facts need to be cleared up. Electric and hybrid technology are undoubtedly making their way to the Slovenian car market, but at the moment they are more expensive options that still inspire distrust among many people. For this reason, we will concentrate on cars that use for their drive diesel or gasoline and we can still assign a label to them thrifty. At the moment, diesel engines are on the decline, but for those who have a daily commute, the purchase is still worthwhile. Of course, assuming that the daily kilometers are enough and that they justify the more expensive starting price of the car. Harmful emissions will be ignored this time, as all the cars on the list meet the latest emission standards Euro 6.

Recently, we have witnessed the advancement of technology that reduces the difference in consumption between diesel and gasoline engines. So gasoline engines are becoming more and more economical, thanks to the cylinder deactivation technology seen at the Volkswagen Group and playing with compression ratios at Mazda. For this reason, we also included a few gasoline-powered cars on the list, with Audi and Suzuki leading the way.

The previous NEDC car efficiency test is slowly being phased out and replaced by the WLTP test cycle, which will provide more realistic fuel consumption figures. Until then, there is no need to ignore the factory data on consumption, because after all, all cars are tested under the same conditions, so we can easily compare them with each other. We in the article refer to the official numbers of the manufacturers while browsing for the most economical cars and cars with the lowest consumption on Slovenian roads.
