You probably haven't heard of the vast majority of successful people. If we talk about successful people who live a happy life, you know even less of them. But why is that so?
The reason for this lies in theory survival bias (Eng. survivorship bias), which explains that humans always focus on those people, who seek fame and fortune in their lives. On talented individuals, who have a sense of fellow human beings and know when is enough, but we often forget. The media is largely to blame for this.
Even if at first glance it seems that an influential person has the most options at his disposal, in reality he has the fewest. It is from his decisions a lot of other things depend on it. A famous person is always in the public eye, that's why he can't live like this, as he really wants.
Success certainly takes a heavy toll. That's what they're talking about the tragic ends of many celebrities, who failed to bear the burden on their shoulders. Whether it's an untimely death, a family breakup, a decline in popularity, or something else entirely. In any case, we can conclude that fame is not for everyone. Success, which has been built for years and years, can instantly turn into a nightmare at a moment of inattention.
But what does that have to do with you? You must be at some point in your life envy your fellow man's success, which he enjoys. Someone who enjoys the limelight, someone who has managed to achieve many medals or someone who has managed to take an unexpected turn in his career. Looking at these people, you probably think that they managed to climb the social ladder with the help of luck and that they should you now stand in their place. But, are you sure, that you really want this?
If you look at the situation from another point of view, you can label those who are happier it is not necessary to poke with constant pressure. Many celebrities will admit to you that the downsides of fame often outweigh the upsides. The singer-songwriter is of the same opinion Sia, who began her manifesto with the following words: “If only anyone besides celebrities knew, what it's like to be famous, I would never want to be famous.”
We don't want to write this to tell you that you should be humble. Quite the opposite! You must on your way strive to achieve goals, which you have set for yourself, and at the same time know that you don't have to beat everyone. There is a big difference between a man who has everything he needs and a billionaire, but sometimes he does for a more peaceful life, it is worth giving up a mountain of money.
