The oldest recordings of London are available on YouTube

The oldest footage of London dates back to June 18, 1890. 39-year-old Al Paton uploaded the 11-minute film with the help of the British Film Institute and British Pathé to YouTube, where we can now take a peek at London more than a hundred years ago.

The 11-minute film includes stunning black-and-white footage of London's iconic squares, from Downing Street, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and famous Tower Bridge.
To see how London has changed over the past 125 years, Paton juxtaposes images of London today.
