The Photon Space: a glass house with positive effects on our health

While winter is relentlessly knocking on our doors, the presence of the sun's rays is becoming an increasingly valuable commodity and an even more important factor for our good mood. Although the power of sunlight on mood has been documented, not much time has been devoted to research on home design that maximizes the power of natural light, especially for health benefits. The Photon Space is a modular construction of residential architecture, designed specifically to allow more access to natural light, while providing instant privacy at the touch of a switch.

The Photon Space, designed using nano-technology and a multi-layered and high-performance glass wall, enables residents living in natural light. A work based on the professor's research of Russell Foster of Oxford, The Photon Space redirects technology to harness the sun beyond solar power and feed inhabitants with invisible photoreceptors for better physical and psychological health.
The prototype is designed on only 45 square meters, and the compact living solution includes a living room and a bedroom with a modular integrated kitchen and bathroom.
The glass panels are double and triple glazed and offer maximum capacity for effective control of internal heat, without over-reliance on heating and cooling.

The Photon Space is designed so that you can switch from completely transparent glass to frosted glass via the smartphone app. This is not only for privacy, but also for better sleeping conditions and treatment of stress, including anxiety, seasonal affective disorder, maintaining energy and libido health. If desired, we can add an additional layer of glass for greater privacy.
The first such construction appeared on the streets of London as part of The London Design Festival in 2013, and now the team on the island Bornholm in Denmark is collecting donations for an even larger glass structure whose technology and engineering would find its way into our homes, or more likely, our next vacation destination.
