The start of the IBM Corporate Service CORPS mission in Slovenia

The mission of the IBM Corporate Service Corps is voluntary consulting by IBM employees to non-governmental organizations that support economic development and entrepreneurship, education and social services. This is the second such mission in Slovenia. Since the start of the program in July 2008, IBM has already sent 4,073 employees from 61 countries on missions to 44 countries, where these personnel provide professional services in the fields of technology, marketing, entrepreneurship, law, human resources and logistics.

Said program which promotes local governments, businesses and leaders and their important initiatives, helps communities around the world. A 15-member team of talented employees at IBM from USA, Mexico, Brazil, Singapore, India, Malaysia and Argentina will spend a month in Ljubljana and collaborate with local organizations and prepare short- and long-term recommendations to support their central initiatives.

IBM will work with the following organizations:

1. Institute 404
The IBM team will attempt to determine the appropriate organization and necessary steps to expand Institute 404's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) programs for elementary, middle, and other students. Expanding the program nationally will help many more students experience and enjoy these types of subjects and perhaps consider future employment or careers in the technology and engineering sectors.

2. CEED Slovenia
IBM will study and help establish the key system processes and knowledge of the CEED business model, so that CEED can more easily and effectively realize the goal of stimulating economic growth by strengthening entrepreneurship and supporting small businesses in their growth and internationalization. The project will enable further growth of the CEED institute, faster activation of entrepreneurs in mutual assistance and cooperation, as well as in the co-creation of a local environment that supports entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship as a positive value. The project also has an important international role, as it will enable the transfer of the model developed in Slovenia to other CEED Centers and thus the faster international expansion of the CEED Institute, which will also enable Slovenian entrepreneurs to connect more easily in the international environment.

3. Society SOS telephone for women and children - victims of violence
IBM will contribute its experience to the SOS Telefon Association to jointly produce recommendations for the effective collection of data on victims of violence who are users of services under the auspices of the SOS Telefon Association. Effective data collection by monitoring victims of violence in the association's programs, which will be made possible by the support of IBM experts, will significantly shed light on the issue of violence against women and children - and this in the year when the SOS Telefon Association celebrates its thirtieth anniversary.

4. Institute for Intergenerational Cooperation Simbioza Genesis Ljubljana, a social enterprise
The IBM team wants to help the Symbiosis Institute, which includes all generations in the digital society and promotes lifelong learning, to find ways to optimize management systems and methods and upgrade the sustainability strategy. The improvements will enable the institution to cooperate more effectively with tens of thousands of volunteers, participants, coordinators and mentors, and establish opportunities to realize the enormous potential for educational and sports-recreational programs and activities for the elderly and young people in Slovenia.

The second IBM Corporate Service Corps mission in Slovenia will be completed October 5, 2018, when key findings and recommendations will be presented at the closing event.
