Wondering which are the best drones of 2021? Whether you want to fly for fun or shoot a cinematic masterpiece, one of these drones will be perfect for you.
If we say that drones have changed the way we see the world, we are not exaggerating. The once difficult and expensive filmmaking techniques have been turned into a "sport" accessible to more or less everyone. Videos that once required a camera crew, expensive cranes and hours of filming can now be captured by the best drones in minutes with the push of a single button for auto-takeoff.
Drones are not just "flying cameras"; they are also a modern version of remote control vehicles. They made flying easier and more accessible, thanks to intelligent collision sensors that protect your drone from accidents. There is a dizzying array of drones available, but there is a basic divide to be aware of – cheaper drones, while fun, will never fly as well or offer the kind of video and photo results that more expensive models can. With drones, you get what you pay for. If you're not worried about impressing YouTube with your sprawling panoramic masterpiece, you don't need to spend a fortune to get a good, fun drone. Here they are best drones 2021 for every pocket!
Best choice for most people: DJI Mavic Air 2

The Mavic Air 2 is a drone that is suitable for most people. It is portable and lightweight, but still with a brilliant polyinch sensor for high quality images and video. Automated features allow you to easily fly and get the photos you want, or record video and let the drone avoid obstacles and follow your subject. You'll even get 60 frames per second for 4K videos - something still not available in the more expensive Mavic 2 Pro - and Spotlight, the powerful automatic flight mode that the Mavic Air 2 has adopted from its "pro brother" the DJI Inspire.
The best drone for a small budget: DJI Mini 2

DJI's Mavic Air 2 is our top pick because excellent collision avoidance technologies, but it's not cheap. For a more affordable option, DJI's Mini 2 is the way to go. It flies better than its bigger brothers, although gusts of wind that wouldn't move larger drones like the Mavic 2 Pro will ground the Mini. The lack of collision avoidance sensors makes it a better choice for more experienced pilots.
That said, the Mini 2 is still a great drone. It's fun to fly with, it shoots video in 4K and is “packaged” smaller than many smartphones. That last part is key, because the best drone is the one you can actually carry around. With only 249 grams you can take the Mini 2 wherever you go.
Best luxury drone: DJI Mavic 2 Pro

DJI's Mavic 2 is one of a kind, and it's the best drone you can buy right now (if you don't mind the price, of course). The picture and video quality is amazing, and the ability to fly and track objects at 72 km/h means you won't miss a shot. Omni-directional obstacle avoidance will keep the drone away from trees, and a 25-minute flight time means you can stay in the air for longer. Of course, none of this is cheap, but in this case, you get what you pay for.
Best video on a budget: Parrot Anafi

Parrot Anafi can with a camera that tilts a full 180 degrees, in Hitchcock mode (“dolly mode”) and with built-in zoom, it takes some shots that no other drone on this list can. The downside is that the footage isn't as sharp and clear as what you'll get from DJI devices. In principle, Anafi also flies very slowly, but go to the settings and increase speed and it will fly just as well as the more expensive competition. The flight time is a good 25 minutes and at the same time it is also one of the quietest drones on the market.
A stable classic: DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0

DJI's Phantom drones are like monoliths from another era—the company hasn't released a major update to the Phantom line in nearly four years. However, if you are professional videographer or professional drone user, the Phantom 4 Pro V2 is for you. It is stable and responsive; it captures incredible cinema-quality footage and is practically smart enough to fly without you. While it may not generate much interest these days, the Phantom remains a great choice that won't let you down.
Best toy: Syma X20

Are you always a bit nervous when flying a drone? If you've invested over €1,000 in your drone, you'd be crazy not to be at least a little nervous. One of the best ways to get over it is "practice" with a cheap drone, such as from Syma X20. This is sold in different configurations, but it's the same basic hardware. Do not pay more than 40 euros. Be careful when flying indoors as it can injure you. Flying is a bit different compared to larger drones (if anything, it's harder), but also very funny.
Save Your Money: Drones to Avoid
DJI is still selling Mavic Mini, which was recently replaced by the Mini 2. The Mavic Mini is about 50 euros cheaper, but at that price it's really not worth it. Spend the extra money on the Mini 2 and you'll get a much better drone. If you can find a Mavic Mini on sale for €300 or less, then the purchase makes a bit more sense.
Then there's the toy drone market. The Internet is full of drones in the price range from 50 to 150 euros. There are two reasons for this. First, well-made drones are still expensive. Even our "budget" selection is 439 euros. But drones also share many components with smartphones, meaning chips, camera sensors and tiny lenses are inexpensive at the wholesale level. So get ready for a million fakes. Unfortunately, you usually get what you pay for.
Second, the photos and videos are really bad. We also doubt their long-term durability. You'd be better off buying one of the smaller drones above and saving up for DJI's Mini 2. But if you don't care about content creation, just want to have fun flying, and don't mind taking the risk with an unknown brand of dubious quality, definitely worth seeing such "toys".
