This is what the first fitness equipment looked like! They are credited to the Swedish doctor and orthopedist Gustav Zander, who 130 years ago designed the first modern devices, conceived as the basis of fitness devices even today, although in the photos taken in 1892 they act as torture devices.

Although it was not yet called a fitness center, but the Gustav Zander Institute, it is considered the forefather of today's fitness studios/centers. It was established the end of the 19th century. Back then, doctors offered pills and other preparations to make you feel better, dr. Gustav Zander however, he was convinced that people would feel better and have more energy if they performed therapies with his devices.
