Mastercard reveals tips that will enable avid vacationers to pay securely and conveniently electronically at every step of their trip – from planning and booking to spending time at their chosen destination. When traveling abroad, people rely more and more on the advantages of electronic payment and include cards in their everyday life, which is an indispensable part of travel.
Europeans love to travel and Slovenians are no exception. On average Europeans travel ten times a year within their own country or abroad: Czechs and Slovaks are at the top of the list with 19 trips per year, while Slovenians make them on average 16 per year. In 2017, Slovenia hosted more than 3 million international visitors. They spent more than 2.5 billion euros, of which 25 % for food, 22 % for purchases, 22 % for activities and 11 % for accommodation. More than 80 % of all transactions were executed with payment cards.
When you're planning a vacation
1. Have phone numbers handy. Before you go, write down all those important phone numbers and make some physical copies too.

6. Never trust the card to strangers. When paying by card in a bar or restaurant, ask the waiter to bring the POS terminal to the table or walk with it to the cash register.
7. Pay in local currency. When using a payment card abroad, always pay in the local currency for the best conversion.
On returning home
8. Check the transactions on the account. Remember to verify transactions and report any suspicious payments within 30 days.
9. Share ratings and comments. Help other travelers with reviews and recommendations of your favorite places and experiences.
