Toyota GR Super Sport Concept: Toyota's concept with 986 horsepower

Toyota GR Super Sport Concept

Mercedes-AMG has the Project One, Red Bull and Aston Martin have the Valkyrie, and with any luck Toyota will have the GR Super Sport Concept. The first two draw their experience from the Formula 1 championship and create road-going supercars. Toyota is gaining experience in endurance competitions, the result of which is the GR Super Sport. For now still in concept form, but soon maybe in series production.

Toyota GR Super Sport Concept takes its inspiration from the Toyota racing car LMP1. They share some exterior design and have quite similar technology at their disposal. The GR uses most of the components, we have already seen them in the TS050 racing hybrid. Consequently, the Toyota GR Super Sport can be described as road formula. The GR Super Sport is powered by hybrid 2.6-liter V6 engine with twin turbine. The total drive power is 986 horsepower. The engine exhaust pipes are routed to an unusual location in the rear, where the rear window is normally located. Instead of a rear window and side mirrors, the GR has installed cameras, which enable the driver to monitor what is happening behind the car. The design definitely is futuristic, but all because of the best possible aerodynamics. This car literally sticks to the ground, allowing for greater speed and stability when driving through corners. In all likelihood, Toyota's next supercar won't be entirely like the GR Super Sport. But this is a good enough indicator to assess what Toyota has in store for us in the future in the field of sports cars.
