Gold Easter eggs are not only an elegant choice, but according to folk lore, they are also a magnet for luck, abundance, and (supposedly) a slightly more generous bank account. And the best part? You only need one simple ingredient to achieve this luxurious look. We reveal it in the post!
Every one Spring kitchens around the world become laboratories for a few days, where culinary creativity turns into a painting passion – we all paint – easter eggs. Marble techniques, natural leaves in onion skins, glittery ribbons… but one color steals the show every year: gold. Not only does it look like an egg-shaped fashion show, but in many cultures it is also a symbol of luck, sunshine and – yes, you read that right – money. Apparently, there’s something about gold attracting gold.
And if you ever thought that such glamour required a special spray or at least a degree from an art academy – rejoice! Your journey to Easter sparkle begins and ends with one humble, yet mighty ingredient: turmeric.
Turmeric – the secret ally of the golden color
Turmeric, the sunny queen of spices, has reigned for centuries in Indian cuisine, Ayurvedic medicine and now – surprise – on the Easter table. According to research, its pigments create a beautiful, natural golden-yellow hue that not only looks divine, but is also completely safe and environmentally friendly.
What you need for Golden Easter Magic – for Golden Easter Eggs:
- 20 grams of turmeric
- 800 ml boiling water
- 1 tablespoon of alcohol vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- And, of course, eggs (preferably those with light shells – because gold on a dark background just doesn't have the same vibe)
Instructions: how to create golden eggs that even the royal family would envy?
- Boil the eggs. in salted water – classic, 7–8 minutes of cooking over low heat.
- Cool them in cold water. Not only for easier peeling, but also for your mental stability.
- Prepare a “golden bath”: Stir the turmeric into boiling water, add vinegar and salt.
- Soak the eggs. into the prepared mixture and let sit for at least 90 minutes. More time means a deeper hue – and hey, gold is never the result of haste.
- Stir occasionally. Unless you're aiming for a "boho ombré" effect, in which case - go for it!
Instagram-ready in a few moves
Once the eggs are dry, you can lightly polish them with a few drops of oil for an extra shine. Place them in natural straw nests, add sprigs of rosemary or lavender, and… voilà! An Easter aesthetic that will impress both grandma and the Instagram algorithms.
Why dye with natural ingredients at all?
Because it's kinder to the environment, to your skin, and... because it's cool. Dyeing with natural dyes is a trend that's making a comeback - and for good reason. No artificial chemicals, just pure kitchen magic.
And yes, turmeric may temporarily turn your fingers yellow, but that's the price of creativity. And let's face it – every gold medal takes its toll, right?
Happiness is in color. And this year it's gold.
Instead of spending this Easter with the same marble techniques as every year, allow yourself a little extravagance. Golden eggs are not just a culinary masterpiece - they are a symbol. Happier tables, brighter spring and - maybe, just maybe - a few more euros in your wallet.
And when they ask you how you did it?
Say with a smile: "With a little turmeric and a lot of style."
