Although globally, brands and commercialization are to be congratulated for their creative media approaches, designer Justin Plunkett warns of the possible negative consequences of these on our landscape. And the photo series under the name Con/struct is a very plastic proof of how right he is.
As a designer, this South African had the opportunity to sit in the front row of advertising and reinterpret his rich knowledge of the subject with all credibility through digitally processed photographs of architectural objects. Through these 'constructs', he investigates the influence of brands and commercialization itself on lifestyle and architecture, especially on local dominants such as churches, skyscrapers and shopping centers.

Its purpose is to question the status quo and provoke a debate about the marketing attitude that simultaneously creates beauty and inspiration as well as corruption and depravity. To illustrate his thoughts, he therefore combined personal photographs and digital processing techniques to create fictional illustrations and surrealistic compositions. Con/struct can therefore also be read as: "All that glitters is not gold or what comes with the logo.”
