"Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One" is one of the most anticipated films of this year. If you want to visit some of the locations where the action was filmed, check the list below.

"Mission: Impossible" also in the latest version offers a series of breathtaking and fairly touristic places where action shots were filmed with Tom Cruise in the main role. It might be high time to visit Venice, Rome, Norway, Abu Dhabi or Amsterdam.

Doge's Palace, Venice

One of the key scenes in the continuation of the successful franchise takes place in the Doge's Palace in Venice, where the arms dealer Alanna Mitsopolis or The White Widow invites to a lavish party. The Doge's Palace was built in 1340 and is one of Venice's greatest attractions. “But we wanted to film it in a unique way,” assures director Christopher McQuarrie, and continues: “So we focused on light and color and brought in these digital projectors that actually made the Doge's Palace a character. Instead of just being a building, we wanted the building to come alive."

Ponte Minich, Venice

In addition to the aforementioned Doge's Palace, another Venetian landmark shines in the film – Ponte Minich. The bridge, named after the surgeon who funded it in the 19th century, is located in Sestiere Castello, the largest of Venice's six neighborhoods.

The Empty Quarter, Abu Dhabi

In one of the earliest shots, Ethan Hunt tracks down Ilsa Faust in the desert. The scene was filmed among the sand dunes for 12 days, and the film crew chose the Rub' al Khali as the location, which stretches across four countries: Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. Another key filming location will only be able to be visited later in 2023: Midfield Terminal in Abu Dhabi, which is currently not yet open. According to the information, the mentioned terminal will be the largest international airport terminal in the world.

Kylling Bridge, Norway

An extremely popular film location, it also found its place in the continuation of the successful "Mission: Impossible" franchise. You can choose a 40 km long journey, as Tom Cruise and the rest of the film crew also did during filming. The line was recently named the most beautiful railway line in Europe as it winds through a picturesque landscape dotted with mountain peaks. The journey from Dombås to Åndalsnes takes one hour and 40 minutes. The train even slows down as it passes the more photogenic parts of the landscape, stopping for a few moments at the Kylling Bridge, which hangs 60 meters above the Rauma River.

Helsetkopen mountain, Norway

In a deadly stunt, Tom Cruise drove his motorcycle off the edge of Norway's Helsetkopen mountain while filming in September 2020. Just before the film crew's heart stopped, he opened the parachute. The mentioned mountain is located about two hours drive from Ålesund on the west coast of Norway. Visit Norway recommends that you see the area with a mountain guide or rent a bike and admire the mountain from a safe distance. Riding a motorbike from the edge of a 1246 meter high mountain is of course not recommended.

Spanish Steps, Rome

The film team of "Mission: Impossible" also included one of the most iconic Roman monuments in the latest installment. Spanish steps. The set of stairs that climbs between the Piazza di Spagna at the bottom and the Trinità dei Monti at the top are massively visited, but beware. As a tourist, you can be in quite a bit of trouble, not like Cruise in a car chase, but still. The local authorities have introduced strict rules in recent years, under which tourists can be fined a hefty €250 if they sit on one of the 136 steps, and up to €400 if they dirty or damage the steps with rubbish.
