The Volvo S60 cross country is the harbinger of a new sub-segment – limousine SUVs

In the flood of new sub-segments, this time the Swedes surprised with a new one. Namely, they upgraded their limousine and added off-road reinforcements to it and sent it off-road. The Volvo S60 cross country is coming next spring with both four-wheel drive and only two-wheel drive, and there will also be a choice of two powerful engines, one on each side.

Volvo surprised with the news that they will be in Detroit show serial version named S60 cross country, which will mean an off-road-inspired crossover between a sedan and a SUV. As a basis, the Swedes took the classic sedan S60 and dedicated it to it 165 millimeter ground clearance, slightly strengthened the lower part of the body and "voila", the sub-segment of off-road sedans is born.

At first glance, the S60 cross country looks just like an elevated S60, but it has off-road reinforcements and accessories on the lower part, and at the customer's request, a powerful 4x4 drive.

The S60 cross country shares most of its components with the aforementioned model, but not that many field reinforcements, even though for greater consistency and according to field tradition, slightly different ends of the sills were given to it. There are also differences in the appearance of the front and rear bumpers, which have been given an off-road finish and thus a more dry appearance, and part of the standard equipment are also 18-inch rims with tires with a slightly higher profile, to fight less crowded roads and carriageways.

There are no major surprises when it comes to motorization, as at the beginning of the market path, one motor will be available on each side. Namely, petrol colors will be represented by a two-liter T5 gas station, which develops 186 kW or 254 KM, and the balance of the hunter will "hunt" the same size diesel D4 aggregate with 140 kW or 190 HP of maximum power. The first one has a drive plug-in four-wheel drive, and with the diesel, the torque is sent only to the front wheel pair, and a little later, the gas-oil option should only get a 4×4 drive, otherwise it will be available in combination with a slightly older D5 five-cylinder.
