VW sportsvan – Volkswagen's trump card in the sports minivan segment

The successor to the Golf Plus, now known as the Sportsvan, drove up to us. As the name suggests, it is significantly sportier than its predecessor in both appearance and driving characteristics, and at the same time offers a very spacious interior, making it even more family-friendly than the model it replaces. In addition to the exterior appearance, it also shares equipment and engine versions with the Golf.

The interior has the most similarities with the center console of the Golf. Unlike the higher seating, the driver's workspace here is similar to the power. However, despite the higher height, the sportsvan drives surprisingly well and in this respect is also comparable to the Golf.

Despite the new name, the Sportsvan represents the logical successor of the successful Golf Plus, which, according to buyers, was too similar to a real family minivan, a Touran, so the new generation was moved away from it and closer to the Golf. At least in terms of driving characteristics, but not in terms of spaciousness. From golf plus it is so 13 centimeters longer and 5 centimeters wider, and at the same time 4 centimeters lower, despite the more gently placed windshield, it offers more space in its interior than in the golf plus.

He is also an athlete 8.3 centimeters longer and 12.8 centimeters higher than the Golf, and the wheelbase is longer by 4.6 centimeters. Due to the flat windshield, the absence of roof racks and the rapidly falling line towards the rear, the roof is a sports van. it works lower than it is in fact, although it beats the Golf by 12 inches in that regard.

The relatively straight-cut rear hides the advantage of spaciousness from 520 to 1,520 liter trunk, and the increased usability of the luggage space is further enhanced by the tilt-adjustable backrest of the rear bench, which is divisible in proportion 40:20:40. In addition, the latter is also longitudinally movable by 18 cm, which increases the basic trunk to 590 liters.

The equipment packages are the same as those of the regular golf, the most novelties compared to the model it replaces, it is mainly in the field advanced techniques. The novelty thus represents a system for warning vehicles in the blind spot, which at the same time ensures that the side of the vehicle does not hit a neighboring vehicle when parking. In addition, the sportsvan has available most of what is known today assistance systems, which VW installs in other domestic models.

Inside, the most design parallels can be drawn with the Golf's center console. Unlike the higher seating, the driver's workspace here is similar to the power. However, despite its higher height, the Sportsvan drives surprisingly well and in this respect is just as close to the Golf as the model it replaces. It also shares a range of engines with the first, all of which comply with Euro 6 standards. There are five well-known TDI and TSI engine versions with power from 81 to 110 kW to choose from, all of which boast blue motion technology, but at the customer's request, all versions can be manual transmission replaces DSG automatic transmission.

For a sportsman, you will be compared to a comparable five-door Golf paid between 900 and 1,600 euros more, and prices thus start at 18,099 EUR on the petrol side, and you will have to add a good two thousand more for the entry-level diesel. The importer offers an additional thousand euros discount on the listed prices for a certain period of time.
