Wedding dress: 6 wedding fashion trends for 2016

Wedding dresses or wedding fashion generally do not change from year to year. Most of the dresses are white and almost never missing lace. But if we look closely, we will see the changes brought about by years of changing trends. If you want to stay on top of the trends heading down the aisle, here are six top wedding dress fashion trends for 2016.

6 wedding fashion trends for 2016…

1st wedding trend 2016: high split.

Who says you can't show some leg on your wedding day? On the catwalks of fashion brands Alon Livne, Reem Acra and Ines Di Santo, we could see high slits on wedding dresses, which are otherwise included in otherwise traditional (or semi-traditional) dresses. The new addition gives the dresses a modern, "sexy" look, while maintaining the classic bridal look.

2nd wedding trend of 2016: fur accessories.

If we want some more "chic" accessories that keep us warm both in autumn and winter, this is the right decision. We spotted fur sleeves (Alon Livne), a short fur skirt (Naeem Khan) and a long fur top (Monique Lhuillier) on the catwalks. All the wedding dresses that really stood out had fur accessories.

3rd wedding trend 2016: 3D elements.

Pearls and sequins have been in fashion for a while now, but these dresses took it to the next level. On the catwalks we could see great jewelry that immediately attracted attention (Pronovias), Monique Lhuillier provided a bold transformation of delicate roses and Ines Di Santo added colors to the roses.

4. wedding trend 2016: kitsch head accessories.

Flower wreaths in hair are a thing of the past. It was walked down the catwalk by quite a few models who had a fair amount of unusual head accessories: at Reem Acra, they opted for floral headphones sprinkled with diamonds. Most of the models at Naeem Kahn wore the non-traditional flower crowns we saw on Frida Kahlo. But the bride, who was wearing a golden accessory on her head, which gave her a somewhat heavenly appearance, certainly attracted attention. Marchesa added slightly more wearable metallic jewelry to the bride's hair.

5. wedding trend 2016: lace leggings.

At both Ines Di Santo and Houghton, brides wore lace leggings under (or instead of) their petticoats. The difference between the two is drastic, but it's this contrast that shows just how versatile this look can be.

6. wedding trend 2016: capes.

Both floral capes and more subtle alternatives proved more popular on the catwalks. Most capes are attached to the dress at the back and move freely behind the bride. Seen on Ines Di Santo, Claire Pettibone and Jenny Packham, this style gives off a sort of medieval vibe that still remains very relevant.
