Vinegar – the most underrated laundry helper

Ordinary alcoholic vinegar may be far from the fragrant fabric softener from the advertisement, but in reality it is one of the most effective natural softenersIt does not leave a strong odor, as it evaporates during washing, while softening fibers, removing detergent residues, neutralizing odors and preventing limescale buildup in the machine.

Baking soda – for fabrics that need refreshing

Although it's most often associated with baking or neutralizing odors in the refrigerator, baking soda is also great for laundry. It works as a fabric softener, especially when combined with vinegar.

It is used by adding one tablespoon directly to the drum, just before starting the wash. Neutralizes unpleasant odors (especially on sportswear or kitchen towels) and at the same time softens the water.

Hair conditioner – when you want soft, fragrant laundry

This solution is a bit more surprising, but it makes perfect sense. If conditioner works on your hair, why not on your cotton towels? All you need is a tablespoon or two of conditioner mixed with a little water to create a liquid, which you then pour into the fabric softener compartment.

Habits have their weight, especially when they seem self-evident. But sometimes it is only lack that shows that there are also other solutions. Laundry can be soft, fragrant and fresh even without a single dose of conventional fabric softener.
