When you don't know what to do with yourself: movies to watch on a boring day

There's nothing better than a comfortable armchair, a warm drink, snacks and a movie to put us in a good mood, especially if we're having a busy, boring day. They are usually comedies or pleasant life stories with a happy ending, which leave warmth and comfort in our hearts and thus accompany us to a good sleep. So let's see which movies we'll chase away boredom with this weekend.

We all get bored sometimes, and now even more so! And instead of staring into space, we can watch movies that won't make us fall asleep or start typing on our phone screen. The list we compiled is extensive. Check if one of the films suits you.

The Fast and the Furious (2001)

Dominic Toretto is convinced that the streets of Los Angeles are his kingdom. Every day he builds and repairs high-performance racing cars, and by night he competes with anyone who challenges him. Brian, who is actually a plainclothes policeman, also wants to join his team.

Forrest Gump (1994)

Forrest is of below average intelligence, but loyal to his principles. Through a series of incredible coincidences, he becomes famous and thus participates in many key world events.

Koyaanisqatsi (1983)

Director and producer Godfrey Reggio presented his experimental documentary in the late 1980s as a troubling warning to humanity. The first third of the film is devoted to natural beauty from all over the world, and the second and last third of the film to everything that has come out of human hands: explosions, big cities, atomic bombs, cars, spaceships, ruins...

Alien (1979)

In this sci-fi horror, we meet a space merchant ship with seven passengers whose path is crossed by a signal calling for help. When they stop on the planet, one of the passengers is sucked in by a strange creature, which leaves him a few days later. It injects a parasite into his body, which grows and then 'jumps' out of his stomach. It's the eighth passenger, a true predator on a rampage.

The Matrix (1999)

Can we separate dreams from reality? Neo has been searching for an answer to this question all his life. Only Morpheus, the most dangerous man in the world, can give him the answer. He is taken to another world by the beautiful Trinity, with the help of which Neo fights against evil secret agents.

Farewell, Lenin! (Goodbye, Lenin, 2003)

1978 was the time when the whole of East Germany wanted to flee to the West, or at least to space. Like most East German boys, little Alex Kerner wants to become an astronaut. Their role model is Sigmund Jahn, the first German cosmonaut who flew into space with Soyuz 31. Cute, fun story.

Spirited Away (2001)

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011)

A group of British retirees decide to spend their golden years in exotic India. A seductive tourist brochure leads them to the Marigold Hotel, which turns out to be only a pale shadow of its former glory. A mix of comedy, drama and romance, enhanced by a dream cast of veteran English actors, it tells us that it's never too late for a fresh start.

Julie & Julia (2009)

Meryl Streep is Julia Child and Amy Adams is writer Julia Powell. Julie is a blogger who wants to write about recipes from Julie Child's book every day, the writer who introduced complicated French recipes to American housewives in the middle of the last century and thus marked the American kitchen. The story is an interweaving of the two main actresses, each of whom tackles life in their own way, but they have a common point.
