Wiesmann has been returning to the automotive scene since 2015, but not very successfully. But it seems that they managed to arrange the supply of engines, and so they are very close to having the Wiesmans on the road again. The engines will be borrowed from the BMW M department, because if they are good enough for the latest BMW M5, they will of course be good enough for Wiesmann's boutique masterpieces.
Wiesmann otherwise it doesn't say which BMW engines they've agreed on, but it's almost certainly the monster that rests under the hood the new BMW M5 sedans. That is 4.4-liter biturbo 8-cylinder engine, which contains bold 591 horsepower, which should be quite enough for Wiesmann's future ventures. Martin brothers and Friedhelm Wiesmann founded the company in 1988, and the world car market only became aware of the company when the model was presented MF30 in 1993. The model at the time was a mix of retro design and modern BMW drivetrain. The company stuck to this recipe until 2014, when it closed its production doors.

The last car to leave the Wiesmann factory was GT MF4-CS, which marked 25th anniversary of the company's existence. It was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013 and had a BMW engine with a volume of 4 liters and 414 horsepower. This was enough to accelerate the sports coupe from 0 to 100 km/h 4.4 seconds. In 2015, they are a company bought by Berry and Anita Tatalovic and since then has been trying to bring the Wiesmann brand back to current cars. The reconfirmation of the link with the BMW M division is definitely a step in the right direction and we can already look forward to it the next one of the Wiesmann project.
