Again this year, more than 800 amateur photographers took part in the Society of Biology 2014 photography competition, capturing the beauty of almighty nature in their lenses. The impressionistic moments in the winning photos take us both to the wilderness of rainforests and to home gardens behind the house.
Society of Biology is a photography competition in which amateur photographers and nature lovers participate every year as part of Biology Week in Great Britain. Contest participants compete for cash prizes in two categories: Photographer of the Year and Junior Photographer of the Year (for contestants up to the age of 18). This year's competition theme – "Home, habitat and shelter" – produced winning photos that even professional photographers would be proud of. They all boast extremely impressionistically captured moments that take us by the realization of how wonderful nature is.
