The witch Uršula is known as a bringer of joy and fun, and is the mascot of the well-known annual carnival in Cerknica. This time our guide is also on the way to Slivnica, so we bring our brooms from the cupboards, choose suitable footwear and set off.

On the broom!

Horuk and "let's ride the broom" and drive along the coastal highway to the exit for Logatec and its city center, which will be our first stop. Logatec has a rich history that dates back to the time of the Romans, but today it is characterized by a richly diversified economy, from wood, cardboard, metal production and agriculture, to increasingly developing private entrepreneurship and catering. Sacred architecture can be admired in its city center. The Renaissance manor in Gornji Logatec, which dates back to 1600, is also worth a visit. Logatec is also a starting point for winter recreation, as nearby is the grassy hill Sekirica (545 m), where there is a ski resort with a cable car and three ski jumps, as well as groomed trails in winter. for walking and cross-country skiing. Thus, there will be something for everyone, if nothing else, and they will try to satisfy different tastes and desires in the old coachman's inn Pr' Krištof, which is famous for its excellent pizzas and is open from Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and from 9 a.m. .until 11 pm during weekends and holidays. If it's still too early for a hot meal, they will gladly serve you coffee or a hot drink.

Enchanted path

Then let the road take us further, to the true witches' gathering place - Cerknica. Those with a broom will find it easier to get involved in the very atmosphere of the enchanted place, while others will need a little more to immerse themselves in the playful adventure. But nothing for that! Soon it will become clear to all of us whether witches really exist or it is just a hoax. Since it has always been the case that everyone has to see for themselves, we follow the signs for Slivnica (1114 m), which will lead us to the starting point. Slivnica is a popular mountain excursion spot for lovers of nature and mountaineering from near and far. Due to its easy and quick access, beautiful nature, fresh air and beautiful view, it is very popular especially on weekends in all seasons. In addition to locals, mountaineers, skiers and other mountain lovers, Slivnica has also been chosen as their home by gliders with kites, paratroopers and radio amateurs of Slovenia (under the peak is the House of Radio Amateurs of Slovenia). Despite the fact that the path is undemanding and only about an hour and a half long, it requires a little more attention due to the "magically" placed markings, which are sometimes in inappropriate places or disappear like witches in the air. So don't let their mischievousness and unreliability put you in a good mood, it's just one of the magic games. Let's surrender to this game, call on our ingenuity and persevere towards the goal we have set for ourselves. It is definitely worth it, because at the top we will enjoy a beautiful view that extends over the Cerkniško field, Cerknica and the famous Cerkniško lake. The view extends much further: from Bloška plateau, Javornik, Snežnik, to Nanos, Trnovsko gozd and, in clear weather, even to Julijce with Triglav. Ugh, there's no shortage of peaks and no shortage of curiosity, where is a witch, if we haven't seen any before then. If not sooner, she will be the first to meet us near the main door of Dom na Slivnica. But let's not be afraid of it and go up to the top floor, where we can warm up in a pleasantly decorated room at the bar counter. The friendly staff will offer us the most delicious thing this time in their cauldron. Whether it's stew, iota or vegetable minestrone, we'll definitely get melt-in-your-mouth home-made bread with it. To quench your thirst, treat yourself to real plum tea, served in a huge cup, which will quench your thirst and leave a pleasantly sweet aftertaste in your mouth. And finally, a magic wrap and our magic friendship is sealed.

Goodbye witches

Convinced that witches are benevolent creatures, at the end, let's take a look at the witches' cave, just 5 minutes away from home, and climb to the very top of Slivnica, which also only requires an additional five minutes of ascent, and leave richer by one stamp in our mountain pass slowly back to our car. Let's drive to the village of Žerovnica by Lake Cerkniško, where the Logar Ecological Farm is located. Here you can buy a variety of organically grown fruit and vegetables, home-made juice, jams, dried fruit or winter food. It is also possible to sleep in this well-kept indoor house and refresh yourself with food prepared according to the standards of organic farming. So there's really no reason to hesitate. We can treat ourselves to a healthy and delicious end to the day.
