"Without pictures, I would have gone crazy. They helped me overcome sadness, pain and suffering. When I painted, I forgot all the dead children, Diego's infidelity and back pain, at least for that moment. In my pictures, every time I wasn't knew more about who exactly I was, found again!" - Frida Kahlo
Painter Frida Kahlo jand her husband Diego Rivera met through a friend in 1929. He was 21 years older than her and already a renowned painter, so Frida wanted him to see and evaluate her works. He was delighted with the pictures. They fell in love, and because of the big difference in appearance and height, they were often called "the elephant and the dove".
Soon after the wedding, Frida realized that his love for her did not exclude sexual relations with other women, including her sister. He longed for freedom and wanted to own every woman, which brought him a certain reputation. He was physically unattractive, but women adored him. He was a god in Mexico. Painter, representative of the Mexican Renaissance and ideologue of the working class. Many ladies wanted to pose for him and be immortalized in his pictures. They saw the way to eternity in adultery with him.
In order to get revenge on him, Frida embarked on various adventures, both with men and women. All this left a deep mark on her in the form of mental pain. They did not have children, although she wanted them.
She once said to her husband:
"I'm not asking you to kiss me, nor to apologize to me when I don't think you did the right thing.
I won't ask you to hold me when I need it most.
I'm not asking you to tell me how beautiful I am, even if it's a lie, or to write me something nice.
I won't even ask you to tell me how your day was, or to tell me that you miss me.
I will not ask you to thank me for everything I do for you, nor to be there for me when my soul is drowning and I will not ask you to support me in my decisions.
I'm not going to ask you to listen to me when I have a thousand stories to tell.
I won't ask you for anything, not even to stay with me forever.
Because if I have to ask and beg you for all of this, I DON'T WANT YOU AND ALL OF THIS ANYMORE…”
What do you think, is this something every woman should really say to her partner?
