When choosing a seat, comfort comes first, but if you're a fan of extravagance, then resting in the arms of these cute animals is the highlight.
On Design Miami/Basel 2018 is an African artist Porky Heffer presented series of seats, which show various endangered animal species – these large sculptures are environmentally friendly, as they are made of recycled materials and with traditional manual production techniques. The author finds it important to show, what beauties people are capable of making with their own hands and not with destructive mass production, which technology introduces into modern consumer society.
Each seat is made of environmentally friendly materials, which were made by hand by craftsmen in Cape Town. Hefer worked closely with Ronel Jordaan, with whom these made large creatures into textile sculptures, which are crocheted, sewn and embroidered with unique decorations.
In a series of interesting seats can be found orangutan, a sloth, polar bear, white whale and white shark.
The series of seats will go on sale in limited editions, whereby it will 25 % of revenue from sales intended for the program for wildlife conservation.
